Chevrolet Equinox’s second generation nears its end as 2014 model might be its last one. It is almost certain that 2015 Chevrolet Equinox will be completely redesigned. That means secure future for Chevy’s first crossover SUV.
Chevy Equinox 2015 redesign
So far it seems that new 2015 Chevrolet Equinox will come with a 2.4L Ecotec I4 that delivers up to 182 hp and 172 ft-lb of torque or 2.5L Ecotec I4 that develops 196 hp and 186 lb-ft of torque. Since 2013 model had a 3.6L V6 engine, that one is not excluded as well, at least on higher trims. Transmission will be, needless to say 6-speed automatic. Same as pretty much every Chevy SUV nawadays, the 2015 Equinox will come in four trims: LS, 1LT, 2LT and LTZ, probably both in FWD and 4WD.
A complete redesign means that it will get a completely new features, both inside and outside. Exterior will change, that comes without question and it can be expected that the most notable changes will be seen on the grille, headlights, taillights and bumpers. Right now, grille closely resembles that on the TrailBlazer, but it will probably become smaller with the new model in store for us.
So far, Equinox was the largest of its class. That will change with the 2015 Chevrolet Equinox model as it will get smaller, more fuel efficient and more stable. This effectively means a very different interior with less space for both passengers and cargo. On the other hand, new model will get a fresh look with high quality materials, technical improvements in navigation system, new look of console and dashboard etc. All of this will come with old features like acoustic laminate glass, triple door seals, compas, outside temperature displays and safety features like six air bags, passenger sensing system, forward collision alert, lane departure warning, rear park assist etc.
Review of Chevy Equinox
Right now, Equinox is very fuel-efficient, going a good 22 mpg in a city and great 32 mpg on a highway. These figures will surely go further up since new model will be smaller and more fuel-efficient.
2015 Chevrolet Equinox price
Prices start at $24,440 for a stock LS and end up at $31,585 for stock LTZ. These will surely go up for a bit, but more than $2,000 on average seems unlikely.
As one of the most popular cars in its class, Chevy Equinox is getting a redisign at a right time. And not only that, it also gets a chance to remain as one of the most bought SUV-s on the market. The fact is that 2015 Chevrolet Equinox will be a marvel to behold, plus it will be more fuel-efficient at a fair price. What else can one expect from a car?
