2015 Chevrolet Silverado 2500hd (heavy duty) is a full-size pickup truck lineup which emphasizes on sheer power. It is currently in its third generation with 2015 year model being slightly facelifted.
2500 HD is offered in three versions, base WT and slightly more expensive LT and LTZ models. Beside three trim levels, this Silverado comes with standard and long box, together with a choice of Regular, Double and Crew cab. As if that wasn’t enough, all models are available in both 2WD or 4WD configurations. Engines are powerful and make no compromises as 2500 HD is offered with either 6.0L petrol V8 with 360 hp and 380 lb-ft of torque, or 6.6L turbodiesel V8 which yields 397 and 765 lb-ft of torque. Transmission is the same across the lineup when number of degrees is concerned and gearbox is a 6-speed automatic one, but diesel models have Allison 1000 6-speed shifter.
Even though third generation only just started in 2014, Chevy’s designers decided that new model should incorporate changes made in 2500’s smaller sibling, 1500. Silverado heavy duty now features intimidating front end with huge double chrome grille and double rectangular headlights. Chrome bumper down below also gives away the feeling of 2500’s sheer power, and so do huge angular wheel arches, both up front and at the back.
2015 Chevrolet Silverado 2500hd interior
Interior is not as luxurious as price might suggest and offers cloth trimmed seats. It however, offers wood and metallic accents on the dash and door panels which compensate for the lack of leather. Interior space really depends on a cab type and you might have the most trouble with rear seat room in Double cab.
Dashboard is robust, but so is Silverado 2500 which means they are a perfect match. Control panel is distinctively pronounced and holds simple 4.2-inch color display which is used for audio system. Safety features aren’t many, but this is a work truck and it really doesn’t require neither luxury, nor a complete batch of gadgets and features. There’s an optional rearview camera available from LT model which comes with also optional front and rear park assist.
Fuel economy ratings, as you might have expected aren’t stellar. In fact, they are awful at first glance as 15 mpg combined for petrol engine and 18 mpg combined for diesel one aren’t the numbers to be proud of. However, these monster trucks are made for performance and they can tow up to 19,600 pounds which justifies their thirstiness.
2015 Chevrolet Silverado 2500hd price
$31,310 is the price of a cheapest WT model with Regular cab, while LTZ model with Crew cab and long bed costs $48,425. However, there are a lot of available options and prices can soar sky high if you choose to implement all of them.
2015 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD has yet again been redesigned and now looks as a mighty fortress on the road. Its intimidating presence is matched only by its ability to tow almost anything, and with this kind of work ethics, come great rewards.
